· Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit (Structure) is preferred; at a minimum, the candidate must be able to maintain coordination and interoperability between AutoCAD and Revit files.
· Ability to read and interpret structural engineering drawings, calculations, and engineer's markups/redlines, and translate them into accurate drawings.
· Ability to produce clean, print-ready drawings following office drafting conventions and templates.
· Experience managing drawing sets across multiple revisions, including version control and sheet numbering.
· Comfortable working with AutoCAD and Revit templates, blocks, and title-block standards; experience customizing templates is preferred.
· Prior exposure to structural drafting for wood-frame, steel, and/or reinforced-concrete construction; exposure to North American structural drafting standards is an added advantage.
· Familiarity with 3D modeling or rendering software (for example, Revit, SketchUp, or similar) is an added advantage.
· Able to independently maintain a reusable template library of typical details, CAD blocks and client title blocks, updated from past project experience and the engineer's instructions/sketches.
· Strong attention to detail, sound time management, effective written and verbal communication in English, and a collaborative approach to taking direction from the team leader.
· No independent design, analysis, or code knowledge is required — the project engineer provides the design intent and is responsible for code compliance.
Job Description
Himalayan Ridge Engineering (HRE) is seeking a motivated Drafter to join our structural/architectural drafting and documentation team. The successful candidate will prepare structural drawing sets — foundation plans, framing plans, sections, and connection details — as directed by the team leader, and update them in line with review comments and markups, coordinating with the project engineer as required. This is a drafting support role: all design decisions, calculations, and code compliance rest with the project engineer. This role suits a candidate with solid CAD drafting fundamentals and an eye for detail.
· Prepare structural drawing sets — foundation plans, framing plans, sections, and connection details.
· Translate engineering calculations, sketches, and markups into accurate, coordinated CAD/BIM drawings.
· Coordinate regularly with the team leader and project engineer, and update drawings in line with review comments and meeting notes.
· Manage multiple revisions efficiently and deliver assigned work within agreed project deadlines.
· Maintain organized, up-to-date project files and drawing sets in accordance with office filing standards.
· Perform basic quality checks on drawings prior to issue to confirm accuracy and completeness.
· Track completed project returns, change orders, and comments needing update on a daily basis; report to the project engineer and flag drafting issues and template enhancements to the designated engineer.
· Support the standardization of drafting templates, blocks, and title blocks to improve office efficiency (preferred, not mandatory).
· Coordinate and facilitate intra-team communication on drafting standards, templates, issues, and workflows.
· Undertake any other duties reasonably assigned by the team leader in line with the scope of the role.
Software & Tools
· Required: AutoCAD.
· Preferred: Autodesk Revit.
· Supporting: AutoCAD DWG TrueView / design review tools, PDF markup tools (Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat), Microsoft Office, and cloud-based file management platforms.
Applying Procedure
Interested candidates meeting the above requirements are requested to fill the form with an updated CV and a portfolio/sample drawing set (PDF). Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a drafting test and interview. Salary is negotiable based on experience and demonstrated skills. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted; telephone enquiries will not be entertained.
