Quiz Competition at HRE: Brains, Buzzers, and Beams

Our Office Quiz Championship
Our office recently traded technical blueprints for buzzer-beaters during an exhilarating intra-office quiz competition. With five teams vying for the top spot, the event was designed to spark a sense of nostalgia, mirroring the classic quiz formats we all grew up with. While the room was filled with structural engineers, the questions spanned far beyond building codes and load paths. From identifying the first Martyr of Nepal to debating the standout players of NPL Season 2—and, of course, identifying Shear Type Connections in a high-speed audio-visual round—there was a challenge for every interest, ensuring that everyone had a moment to shine.

The Road to Victory
The competition was a masterclass in resilience, particularly for Team Everest. After a quiet start, they staged a legendary comeback during the high-stakes buzzer round, clawing their way back into contention. They maintained that momentum through a lightning-fast rapid-fire finale, eventually securing the championship by the narrowest of margins. This blend of precision and quick thinking proved that the competitive spirit of our engineering team is just as strong outside the design studio as it is within it.

An Engineer’s Edge
True to our roots, we couldn't settle for a standard presentation. To elevate the experience, we developed a custom digital interface from scratch specifically for this competition. This bespoke platform gave the event a premium, "reality show" atmosphere, turning a simple hour of trivia into a high-octane production. It was a perfect reflection of our office culture: combining technical innovation with a deep appreciation for the shared history and memories that bring us together as a team.

A Moment of Recognition
The event also included a special moment of recognition as Abhishek Nidhi was acknowledged as HRE’s Employee of the Quarter. The announcement added a meaningful close to the gathering, celebrating a professional journey marked by consistency, contribution, and quiet excellence. With the second-highest number of completed projects at HRE to date, surpassed only by Divesh Mainali, the firm’s founding member, Abhishek’s achievement stood as a fitting reminder of the dedication and long-term impact that continue to shape HRE’s story.
